STOCK-MARKET investors are usually excited when a company comes to the market with its IPO. There is always a period leading up to the listing day when the newspapers’ business section has a constant stream of news items about the company that often read like corporate press releases, which, of course, they are.

IN October the Philippine Stock Exchange Composite index turned in its best monthly performance since February. This is a promising development that may be the next step in the march toward establishing a new historic high.
